Who We Are

The Luverne School Foundation (now known as the Luverne Education Legacy Fund) was established in 2003 and born from an idea of a few school board members for the long term needs of the district.  Through the wonderful generosity of the family of a local resident Harvey Ordung an endowment fund was created. Since that time the foundation has received many additional gifts from Luverne alumni, community members and other supporters in order to continue to support the proud educational legacy of Luverne Public Schools.
Gifts to the foundation are separate from district funds and are managed by a group of local volunteers who serve on a board of directors. The foundation board determines how foundation funds will be awarded each year.
Historically, foundation grants have supported special field trips and guest speakers at all age levels, equipment for the music department, supplemental books for classrooms at the elementary level, educational technologies for the family and consumer science classes, classroom speaker/amplification systems for hard-of-hearing learners, printers for graphic arts and many other projects.

The Luverne School Foundation was a leader in the transformation and expansion of the new tennis courts and track shot put and discus field enhancement projects.

We look forward to sharing more about the exciting things the Luverne Education Legacy Fund will achieve and we want you to consider being a partner with us through gifts, support, encouragement, and education of what we do.
